This multi-purpose fairing compound has many uses, including repairing fiberglass parts & molds, and quick cosmetic repairs to fiberglass decks and hulls (above the waterline). Comes in a quart container with red mekp hardener included Polysilk general purpose polyester putty fills, fairs, and feathers to excellence for quick and easy cosmetic repairs on gelcoat, fiberglass, and other composite surfaces. This high-viscosity polyester marine filler is easy to mix with the included red MEKP catalyst to achieve a smooth, creamy paste that spreads easily, feathers well, and sets up quickly, without sagging. In as little as 30 minutes, it cures to a hard material with optimal strength and easy sanding ability. It is easy to maintain a feathered edge while sanding thick or thin areas, so with extraordinarily little effort (and very few sandpaper change-outs) you get a perfectly smooth, pinhole-free surface that’s ready for paint or gelcoat. This lightweight cosmetic filler also has minimal shrinkage and less odor than traditional polyester fairing compounds. In addition, you can tint our Polyester Fairing Compound with polyester resin-safe colorants if you would like to get a better match with your existing gelcoat.
